I really like the Aluminum inserts for tool handles. I had purchased some 10 years ago but needed a few more. After John Jordan's demo last month, I decided to give it a go and make one for myself. It went pretty well following John's detailed instructions. I made it for my 3/8" spindle detail gouge and wanted a shorter handle. The wooden part of the handle is 6" long. Shorter handles are great when making small details. I used mainly a 3/16" HSS round nose scraper and it worked great. Just can't be in a hurry.
